Announcing the 2018 Scott Christian Memorial Scholarship Winners

Thank you to all the men and women who applied for the 2018 Scott Christian Memorial Scholarship.

We would like to congratulate the following 4 student-athletes on winning this year’s scholarship:

Madison Wilhoite (Notre Dame Academy) - Madison is a 3-year varsity letter winner for the Pandas and has been playing soccer for the last 14 years of her life. She has a 4.01 weighted GPA and obtained a 31 on her latest ACT. Not only has Madison excelled in the classroom, but also excelled out on the pitch. She obtained numerous awards, including, but not limited to 35th District MVP, 9th Region Tournament MVP, 1st Team All-State, and the Cincinnati Enquirer Player of the Year. As a sophomore, Madison verbally committed to the University of Toledo to continue her playing career. In her free time, Madison has volunteered at the Ronald McDonald house and the Notre Dame Urban Education Center. Madison is a true difference maker both on and off the field and we are very excited to grant her this scholarship.

Will Leanhart (Simon Kenton) - Will is a 3-year varsity letterwinner for the Pioneers and has been playing soccer for the last 15 years of his life. He is currently carrying a 4.15 GPA and scored a 32 on his latest ACT test. Will was awarded the NKY Offensive Player of the year award, despite playing most of the year as a defensive midfielder. His academic and athletic achievement caught the eye of Ohio Northern University and he committed to continue his career with the Polar Bears. Will intends to pursue his career in pharmacy at Ohio Northern, and we are very excited to watch this young man grow.

Hunter Cagle (Simon Kenton) - Hunter is a 3-year varsity letterwinner for the Pioneers and has achieved great success both on and off the field. Hunter is currently maintaining a 3.6 GPA and has committed to continue his academic and soccer career at Ohio Northern University. In addition to being named team captain for the Pioneers, Hunter was also nominated on the NKY 1st Team All-Region and The Cincinnati Enquirer 1st Team for his stout defense on the back line. In the future, Hunter aspires to be a Civil Engineer. The foundation is very humbled to present this award to Hunter.

Jacob Barth (Newport Central Catholic) - Jacob is a 3-year varsity letterwinner for the Thoroughbreds and has been playing the game for the last 12 years. Jacob is currently sporting an outstanding GPA of 4.18 and has decided to continue his athletic and academic career with the Golden Eagles of Spaulding University in Louisville, KY. Jacob was NCC’s Defensive Player of the Year and was nominated to the 36th District All-Tournament Team. Amongst many of his extracurricular activities, Jacob is an alter server at St. Therese Parish and volunteered time at the Down Syndrome Association. Jacob is a leader through and through and we are honored to present this scholarship to him.
